TRAVEL CLUB RECISSIONS

Cancelling your travel club membership varies from state to state. Missouri has a three day rescission period, but there is a clause "as long as your membership benefits have not been accessed." Which is why the travel club will try and sell you a motel stay or show tickets. This is a trick used by them to keep you in the deal. Be very careful, they may even give you a restaurant gift card or "free tickets".

When you do cancel, mail everything back to the club registered mail along with a letter  stating you are cancelling. You do not have to give a reason.

DO YOU HAVE TO "BUY IT TODAY"

If you have been on a timeshare or travel cub presentation you have heard the line, "you have to make a yes or no decision today."

They will tell you the special offer is only good for today, it's the law, just like JC Penny cannot sell you an item at sale price the day after their famous "JC Penny White Sale".

The reason JC Penny will not give you sale price after their White Sale is they don't have to. The timeshare salesman needs to get it in your mind that you have to make a choice today, and they use our natural greed mode to get us to buy it today.

They will tell you the offer is only good today and will throw in some tasty sounding benefits. But trust me if you walked out of there and came back tomorrow you would end up with the same deal. They will have a good excuse while you're getting yesterdays deal, today.

It comes down to two reasons they want you to buy today, if you leave you will no longer be under the "ether", they count on you being star struck with the luxury that could be yours, Number two, they don't want you googling the resort. You will find complaints from owners and other people who have been on tour.

No matter what you say, they will try and convince you to buy it today. How you say it depends on how long you will be there. If you tell them you have "to think about it" that drives them nuts, and will actually upset the salesperson. His manager will say he didn't do his job if you have to think about it. So they will keep you there for hours pounding on you until they wear you down.

Think before you buy. If you want a timeshare, you will find them for sale dirt cheap online.

DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION?

Post your questions in the comment section, I will answer all. The tourist season is on, save money on your vacation by touring timeshares and travel clubs.

WHAT IS AN OPC?

OPC - OPC's are Off Property Contacts, which means they are salespeople who work in tourists areas offering free gifts in exchange for 90 minutes of your time for a no obligation sales presentation.
It may be show tickets, motel stays or cash money. Each OPC has a budget limit, if his budget is 175 dollars and he gets your business by offering you 60 dollars in show tickets, he will make an extra $115. The more you say no, the more they will offer to get you to the presentation.
He will take a $35 commission on the chance that you will purchase at the resort, giving him a bonus.
You will find these people will say anything to get you to the presentation, they will tell you all you have to do is say NO at the end of the ninety minutes and you will be awarded your free gifts and life will be good. Wrong, if the resort or travel club decides to keep you for three hours they can. If at any time you decide to leave before they are through with you. You forfeit your gifts and any deposit you paid. If your gift was a couple of nights in motel, you will be charged for the full price of the room.

Some OPC's will tell you what to say so you can get through the tour faster, then you can come back to them and they will book you another tour. If this second, or third resort finds out you have taken multiple tours the will NQ (Not Qualified) you and deny your gifts.
